Vacuum Condensate Return Systems

Using a pump to overcome return line backpressure.
Vacuum condensate return systems. System backpressure can be calculated by totaling the sum of 3 discharge side components. Lift after a steam trap pump or pump trap. Skidmore condensate return units are manufactured in both the 10mx and v series models. In a properly designed system the condensate flows by gravity to the receiver with one exception.
V series systems are produced with capacities to 150 000 edr. A pumping system is required to transport and recover condensate once the system backpressure becomes higher than the lowest possible trap inlet pressure. The series vcd vacuum heating unit is designed for large systems through 150 000 sq. 10mx series models are available with pump capacities up to and including 15 000 edr.
Pumps sized at two times the normal condensing or evaporation rate based on a quicker return rate of the condensate than non vacuum condensate units. Vacuum units produce a vacuum in the condensate return system which speeds up the return flow of condensate and pump condensate. Make sure the inlet height is lower or equal to existing height on gravity return systems water does not run uphill. There may be times when the vacuum pump is called upon to lift condensate.
