Tube Power Supply Schematic

The occasional tube circuit needing different heater filament voltage can be accommodated by a temporary lash up employing a filament transformer or a transistor power supply.
Tube power supply schematic. The heater runs directly from the power line requiring no transformer or dropping resistor. Well we ve shown that with some plots and a little simple arithmetic we can get. This is a very quiet supply and excellently suited to our amplifier. For a verbal description click here.
This first one uses a tube that was designed for one tube phonographs. A series dropping resistor drops the output of the supply to 250v. 0 to 100 vdc for vacuum tube grid bias. A preamp or an amp is like a tap put after a water tank.
So here is what we really need. Vacuum tube power supply design. So where does all this leave us. In order to construct some tube circuits on a breadboard style set up and be able to manipulate or dial up the supply voltages at will i would need to have a bench supply that would put out low as well as high voltages not to mention grid bias voltages filament power and would display what those voltages were.
This design makes use of the power transformer and rectifiers in a very clever manner. B power supply circuit click on a section of the schematic. The 5y3 gt rectifier filament is powered by a separate 5v ac winding on the power transformer and the tube filaments and dial lamps are powered by another 6 3v ac winding. It has no sense to have the best tap if you have only few and spotted water to put through.
Figure 10 power supply schematic. The final output voltage is 1 below target final ripple is 2 9µv or 110 7dbv. Tube power supply a power supply should provide a precise voltage completely stabilized versus perturbations from any kind coming both from the ac source or from the load. 50 to 500 vdc at up to 200 ma for plate and screen supplies of moderate power vacuum tube circuits.
The power supply in the 6146b transmitter is a design commonly called an economy supply.
